Coalhouse Fort is a Victorian coastal defence fort set in parkland next to the river Thames at East Tilbury in Essex. Very early defensive contruction on this site can be dated to 1402, however, completed in 1874, it was used to defend the approaches to London from the perceived threat of invasion from France and other continental powers.
The Fort has a long and diversified TV history in recent years, notably Batman Begins with Christian Bale, and Most Haunted with Yvette Fielding.
The Drama Shed and the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts has been asked to once again coordinate the Halloween event for 2011 (third year running), with students across all locations. With over 3,500 people attending the events opening night last year ("Jacks Back") the expectations for this October's "Lockdown" theme are even higher.
